I have been teaching or playing tennis since my early years. I have been a USPTA teaching professional since 2004. I am a member of the Head/Penn advisory staff. I am currently an elite professional and serve as the director of tennis at Cypress Lake Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida. My athletic background includes tennis and swimming. I swam competitively for my home country of Brazil and represented the University of Alabama as their swimming team captain for three years. I returned to tennis upon graduation and became a team manager for the men's tennis team at the University of Alabama. I remain focused on continuing education and is certified by Pat Etcheberry in Strength, Conditioning and Movement in Sport - Elite Level and have also completed my Mental Toughness Coaching course at Human Performance Institute. I am a constant fixture at USPTA conventions where I keep enhancing my knowledge and representing Cypress Lake. In 2011, I co-authored and published Sportsmetrics Tennis. Sportsmetrics Tennis is a six-week neuromuscular training program for competitive junior tennis players. It offers an unique blend of sport-specific enhancement tasks to both improve player skill and aerobic fitness, and decrease the risk of a knee injury by improving dynamic balance. Along with my business background, my experience at the college team level as well as my past as a world-class swimmer is a major part of my high-performance coaching style.

Not only does he know tennis but also he is an excellent instructor.
Alex is a knowledgeable, kind, and patient instructor--humorous, too! He is an expert at tennis and has always challenged me to be my best. I would highly recommend Alex to anyone wanting to improve whether beginner, intermediate or advanced.
