About Me

Hi, my name is Alejandro. I am originally from Colombia, South America. I started out in an academy down there and went on to play national tournaments. I came over here to Florida in 2000 and steadily increased my tennis diet playing with top juniors, college level players and even some former ATP pros. I can play with anybody. Tennis is a great sport, you can always challenge yourself through it and learn a lot, not to mention the whole load of fun your going to have playing it. I can prepare anybody adequately for higher level of playing, the x-factor is your effort. I can guarantee that with my help you'll improve in some area or another of your game, if not in your whole game, but there's only so much i can do by correcting and talking, you have to put in the effort. I won 3 titles as a junior in Colombia and also participated in national tournaments. Recently I obtained my PTR certification. I have played with players who played futures tournaments.

Teaching Style

The one thing that I emphasize the most is correct technique. I am a believer in correct technique and repetitive hitting, when you combine the two you are bound to have success. I communicate very well with my students, I clearly tell them exactly what it is they need to know to improve their game, sometimes its extending the racquet, sometimes its incorporating the arc into the swing, sometimes correcting footwork to maximize the potential stroke. Another belief of mine is swinging big, if you swing big you are going to have a big shot, even if it goes out you exerted your body to a good level, it is much better (for purposes of a good workout, not to mention getting the ball deep in the court)'than chopping the swing or swinging too conservatively. The structure of any particular lesson would include a warmup-- laps around the court plus stretching, mini tennis and finally drills and or games. Everyone enjoys my lessons and they learn something or another about their game, eventually they get better.
