About Me

Hi, my name is Zak. I am a recent graduate from University where I played tennis at the NCAA Division 1 level and studied Economics and Math. Before attending University, I lived in London, England, where I was born and raised. I chose to move to America to pursue my tennis and complete a degree at the same time, fortunate enough to receive a scholarship for me tennis to do so. I attended Belmont University, which is in Nashville, and have only recently moved to Los Angeles. I have been coaching since the age of 16 and have coached individuals and groups of all ages, abilities, and genders. I would describe myself as a fun, motivational and energetic individual, who is able to effectively find ways to teach complex skills in a simple way.

Teaching Style

I believe that the three most important aspects of tennis are movement, technique and tactics/strategy. If you learn the correct way to move/position yourself for each shot, you are much more easily able to learn how to hit that shot. If you learn the correct technique for a shot, you are able to have more control on your shots. With this control and increase in shot selection, you are able to execute more tactics and strategies effectively. Tactics and strategies are ultimately what win you the match.

Therefore, my specialities are movement, technique and tactics. Depending on the level of the player, I like to incorporate all of these aspects into each lesson, usually starting with movement work and ending with tactical work. For the lower levels or for more technical work I tend to use a basket of balls and will feed the balls. For the higher levels and for more tactical work I tend to hit with the player and do more rallying drills or points play.
