About Me
I started playing tennis as a young man. In high school, I competed in the Idaho State Tennis Tournament all four years placing my Junior and Senior years. Currently, I play recreationally and have previously coached at Utah Youth Tennis for two years as well as in university sport classes. I have a Master’s Degree in Sport Psychology and utilize a research based approach to teach the mental skills needed improve the mental game as well as the physical. I help athletes recover from mistakes, manage emotions, build routines, manage pressure, overcome anxiety, and develop the resilience needed to compete at the highest levels of the sport.
Teaching Style
We all know that tennis is an extremely mental sport, therefore, it is crucial athletes learn to recover from mistakes, step into challenges, regulate their emotions, and manage pressure among other things. It is only when they develop these skills, as well as the technique, that they are able to take their performance to the next level. I seek to train my athletes smarter rather than harder.
Each lesson starts with and is themed throughout with a mental skill (breathing, self-talk, awareness, imagery, etc). As we engage in tennis training, the player learns how and when to utilize mental strategies to improve their game. Thus, a player is able to remove distraction and interference from their training and performance.
