About David

Hi, my name is David. I have been playing tennis since I was 6 years old. I learned predominantly on my own. As a high school player at Deer Park High School under coach Will Rau, I was ranked fifth in a highly competitive program. I was on varsity as a freshman (one of few ever) and I went 27-0 my senior year in team tennis. I have coached a lot of private lessons. I used to coach at the San Marcos Academy where we had a doubles team go to state and an overall successful program. I enjoy teaching all ages but work really well with the intermediate/advanced group. I consider myself an all around player and a “get to business” coach.

Teaching Style & Experience

I believe that the player with good footwork, who’s in shape and is mentally sound wins matches. With most of my lessons I start with some light stretching, both static and dynamic, and speed drills. I work on serves (first and second), down the line/cross-court forehands/backhand, net drills, match play, and finally conditioning/footwork drills. I have a full range of drills and hitting techniques I work on in all of these aspects. I specialize in teaching the volley, footwork, and mechanics.
