About Me
I grew up playing tennis in Texas and achieved the highest rank, Super-Champ, maintaining it through my junior career. I won many junior tournaments and even was part of the elite John Newcombe touring team where I played grass and indoor tournaments in England. I was part of a tennis team that won state in Texas for 5A one year and was runner up the second. As a doubles player I beat the number one ranked junior player in the country twice. I have competed in satellite (pro) tournaments and have been the pro part of a pro-am tournament. I used to teach at South Bay Tennis Center in Torrance, coaching all levels of junior players and/or acting as a hitting partner for them as well. I coached players at SBTC who went on to play division 1 tennis for UCLA and UC Irvine to name a few. I trained out of King Daddy Sports in Houston, Texas, a top junior training facility and attended the prestigious Bolletieri Academy in Bradenton, FL.
Teaching Style
I believe in a rigorous teaching style in which repetition (the right way) is emphasized. This would mean multiples drills on both the forehand and backhand side, volleying, overheads. We would start with a warm-up, often times mini-tennis, depending on the level, then move to full court. Typically after drills, such as me feeding the ball, or crosscourt rallying, I believe in concluding with point play.
I don't believe in a one size fits all approach and have taught all levels of players, from absolute beginners to advanced juniors, to acting as a hitting partner for professionals. I draw on my years of experience from working with some of the best coaches around.
